Jimmy Nelson is a 46 year old guitarist, singer, and song writer from the southern state of Georgia. He discovered he had a knack for the guitar when he was about 13 years old, and got his first guitar, a little ¾ size Silvertone acoustic, when he was 14. Jimmy has been influenced buy various kinds of music. When he first started playing he was heavy into country and bluegrass music. He also loved ballad type rock music, ie: The Eagles, Steve Miller Band, etc. Jimmy played and wrote music of this type for the first couple of years of his playing & singing. When he was 16 after finding a taste for guitar driven hard rock/’80’s metal, Jimmy plugged an old humbucker equipped Univox strat style guitar into an old Marantz tape deck, the gain and feedback was totally over the top, a monster was born lol. His first influences were the guitar playing of Tom Sholtz/Boston, and the guitarists in the band Styx. Also, of course, Lynyrd Skynrd, He is from Georgia, after all  Then Jimmy heard his first Van Halen album, followed by Ozzy with Randy Rhoads as his guitarist, and was instantly blown away and to this day it’s an even draw between Eddie and Randy as far as who, above all, are his biggest guitar idols. Jimmy sort of belongs to the split personality club of musicians, when he plays the acoustic guitar he’s all about country, bluegrass, and ballad type music. Also his voice is more suited for country. Jimmy’s voice doesn’t quite match the power rock type of music he loves to play when he plays the electric guitar, which is one reason he became such a huge fan of instrumental guitar rock of the likes of Joe Satriani & Steve Vai, and good friend Rikk Beatty! Much of the rock music he has written are in this genre. Jimmy is currently interested in getting his feet wet in the music business. He has dabbled in getting bands together but has never really learned much about how to get into the music business, something he is currently working to rectify. He is currently working with native Georgia drummer David Brown in a band project currently named "Stonehenge Cowboys" in the rock/heavy rock/southern rock genre (might even sneak an old outlaw country song in there when ya ain't lookin'!) It would just make Jimmy’s whole world complete if he could someday get some professional recordings of his music and to have it promoted and make some new fans. Currently Jimmy is enjoying a small following of family and friends who all cheer him on whenever he has any new music to share. Music is such a huge part of his life, it goes all the way to the core of his being, it’s a gift he thanks God for everyday.
